Nutritious Canned Foods
Canned fruits and vegetables are a nutritious addition to a healthy diet. Although cans were invented almost 200 years ago and are seen as an old fashioned, they are safe to use, have a long shelf life, preserve nutrition and are more recyclable than most or all other containers.
Most fruits and vegetables will begin to lose some nutrients when harvested. However, when handled properly and canned quickly after harvest, canned foods, including canned prunes, are more nutritious than fresh produce sold in stores.
