Almond Crumble Coffee Cake With Dried PlumsPrep Time: 15 minutes

Coffee Cake:

  • 17 oz all-purpose flour
  • 9.75 oz sugar
  • 5 1/2 tsp. powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground cardamom
  • 3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup milk
  • 5 1/2 oz butter, melted
  • 5 1/2 oz egg
  • 2 tsp almond extract
  • 25 oz chopped dried plums (If using canned prunes, simply drain liquid and pat dry with a paper towel.)


  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1/4cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp. ground cardamom
  • 3/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 2 3/4 oz butter softened
  • 1/4 cup chopped almonds


Heat oven to 400ºF.
For Topping: In a bowl, combine sugar, flour, cardamom and nutmeg. Add butter; and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in almonds; set aside.

For Coffee Cake: In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, cardamom and nutmeg; set aside. In small bowl, whisk together milk, butter, egg and almond extract. Add to dry ingredients, mixing just until moistened. Stir in dried plums. Pour batter into greased and floured sheet pans, spreading evenly. Sprinkle with Topping.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted into center comes out clean. Serve warm.
